A quilt show is coming to town, and we’re just a bit excited! Here on the Love Patchwork & Quilting team, we spend hours pouring over Pinterest and Instagram, but nothing quite beats seeing a load of quilts up close. Lucky for us, in a few weeks we’ll be doing that right here in Bristol…
This year’s West Country Quilt and Textile Show is coming to town in a few weeks. The 3-day-show will be packed with 80 display galleries featuring some of the country’s most celebrated textile artists, daily demos, workshops and jam-packed quilt competitions. It’s right up our street!
For the first time in 2017, the show will include a junior section, with young quilters’ creations being shown alongside those of the best professionals and amateurs in the event’s prestigious quilt comps.
Full day masterclasses include eco printing and weaving, with some of the biggest names in UK textiles sharing their secrets at the show, including:
- Chrissie Juno-Mann from the Royal School of Needlework
- Sallieann Harrison with her Punchneedle embroidery technique
- Margaret Beale, one of the pioneers of fabric fusing
- Debby Bird, Bristol based textile artist
The show takes place at the University of the West of England Exhibition Centre from 1 – 3 September 2017. Tickets cost is £11, children under 16 are free.Find out more at www.westcountryquiltshow.co.uk
